South-Korea based Samsung Electronics has been a customer, supplier and competitor to Taiwan-based firms in DRAM and LCD panels. In order for Taiwan-based firms to win, chairman of AU Optronics (KY) KY Lee pointed out, they need to focus on certain specialty areas such as touch panels, 3D products, low-temperature polysilicon (LTPS) TFT LCDs, and ultra-thin notebooks.
