ODM makers not benefiting from growing demand for smartphones, say Taiwan makers

Global demand for smartphones is growing fast, with main international vendors Nokia, Samsung Electronics and Taiwan-based HTC have mostly relied on in-house production capacities, while Apple and RIM have outsourced production to EMS providers such as Foxconn and Elcoteq. ODM makers have not obtained orders with substantial volumes from them, according to Taiwan-based supply chain makers.
